Climbing Wall Services and Training
Outdoor Education North West offer a range of services to support you in delivering climbing activities to your students:
If your establishment is lucky enough to have your own climbing wall, or access to a local facility we can train your staff to run safe and high quality sessions for your students.
Our courses are run in accordance with the guidelines issued by Mountain Training UK and lead to a Site Specific Statement of Competence, signed off by a Technical Advisor and recognised by most Local Authorities as appropriate evidence of competence.
We can support you in developing climbing activities for your establishment by working with you to produce Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments, advise on equipment and equipment checks, and even provide a competent person, as recognised by the HSE, to carry out these checks for you.
NICAS: National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme.
NICAS is a UK wide scheme aimed at encouraging and promoting individual participation in climbing activities. The scheme is accredited and can lead to certification at 5 different levels. The scheme is open to anyone aged 7 and upwards (for more information please visit the NICAS website).
Outdoor Education NW can help get your wall registered for delivering NICAS climbing courses within your establishment. We can provide you with a Course Director and Technical Advisor to oversee your delivery of NICAS. We can ensure that your staff are suitable trained and inducted, or provide our own instructors. We can also help ensure all the relevant paperwork is submitted correctly, so that your students have the best possible opportunity to gain national recognised certification.
Alternatively we can run the award for you at a local climbing wall, providing qualified and experienced instructors to guide your students through the scheme.
